Moveable Feast
The concept of feeding your body while also feeding your mind is a tale as old as time and one that is still celebrated by a local group of literary lovers. It is common to find people enveloped in a book in some other world, one filled with tales of love, tragedy, action, and heroism, while sipping a coffee and enjoying a pastry in a cafe. Moveable Feast takes that one step further! Every week, members enjoy a luncheon while listening to a featured author read an excerpt from his or her book. Afterwards, the members have a chance to meet with the author and have them sign a copy of their book! The coordinators of CLASS and Moveable Feast hold a literary luncheon at different local restaurants and in our case, catering banquets, every Friday as well as a Tuesday here and there.
CLASS, Community Learning About Special Subjects, is in its 21st year of providing people near and far with the special opportunities such as Moveable Feast as well as publishing and painting classes, concerts, and retreats to beautiful places around our great state!
We love being one of the stops along the Moveable Feast journey and seeing new and old faces amongst the crowd. Each time we hold Moveable Feast, we work with a CLASS coordinator to create a menu that compliments the theme of the featured book and its author!
This week, we did a light grilled chicken spinach salad with fresh strawberries and blueberries topped with a strawberry vinaigrette dressing and feta cheese crumbles! Double chocolate cake topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries finished the meal! This light and fresh meal matches the featured author of the week’s charm and sweet Southern demeanor. We were happy to have her as well as the rest of the Moveable Feast group!
